The Humboldt Broncos broke the Flin Flon Bombers' winning streak last Thursday night with a 2-1 win in the SJHL Showcase. Going into the showcase weekend, the Bombers sat with a six-game winning streak, but Thursday's 5 p.m. game against the Broncos ended it. Like the majority of their games, the Bombers earned the first marker of the game as captain Michael Young (Patrick Sitko, Matty Lecours) found the back of the net on a power play at 16:23. Young's goal was the lone marker for the first period. Answering back in the second period, Humboldt scored their first goal of the game, breaking Matt Weninger's shutout. Just after the 11-minute mark on the clock, Spencer Braaten scored a power play goal over the Maroon and White. It would be another one-goal period as the teams were back on the ice for the third, as the Broncos were able to find the back of the net at 5:28 to score the game-winning goal. The Bombers fired off 33 shots on the Broncos while Matt Weninger was faced with 26. Following Thursday's game, the Bombers played the Nipawin Hawks in an 11:30 a.m. game Friday. Results were unavailable as of press time. The Bombers are heading back to the Whitney Forum next weekend for their double-header against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Going into Friday's game, the Bombers sat with 38 points Ð leading the Bauer Conference with a record of 18-7-0-2 while the Ice Wolves called fourth place of the same conference home with a record of 13-12-3-1 and 30 points. The Bombers' second game of the SJHL Showcase ended out the month of November. Heading into the game, the team sat with a 7-2 record for the month.
