It was a good end to Wednesday for the Flin Flon Bombers as the cleaned out the Estevan barn 8-4 for their second road game, in as many days, on their southern swing. Getting the game underway, Denis Restoule (Doug McLeod, Jonathan Young) earned the first marker of the night with a goal past the Estevan Bruins at 1:45. Taking a lead early on, the Bombers wanted to make their presence known as they followed up with three more goals before the Bruins got their first of the game. McLeod's line worked well together as Young scored the team's second goal of the night with help from Young and Restoule six minutes after the first. The third goal came from David Dykstra with help from Andrew Johnston at 8:14. Pushing the score up to 4-0, Brody Haygarth was able to find the back of the net for the Maroon and White unassisted on a power play at 15:52. The home team was finally able to get past Klynt Spencer with a late first period goal. Ending the first 20 minutes of play, the Bombers were up 4-1. Hitting the ice for the second period, Flin Flonner Ryan Fox was able to score the team's fifth goal as he got past Estevan with a short handed, unassisted, goal. Estevan earned their second goal against Spencer just before the 10 minute mark on the clock. But the Bombers crushed any hopes the Bruins had of catching up as Mike Rey scored the team's sixth goal, with help from Michael Young and Taylor Thiessen. Just to be clear who was boss, the Bombers hammered off one more on Estevan as Johnston made his way to the back of the net after accepting the puck from Cory Tyrell and Michael Young. Sitting up 7-2, the Bombers and Bruins hit the ice for the final 20 minutes of play. Once again, the Bombers earned the first goal of the period Ð this one from Alex Lamontagne (David Roper, Patrick Sitko) while on a power play Ð making it 8-2. The Bruins mustered up two more goals to end out the game, but they were unable to earn the seven they needed to win. Thursday was an off day for the Bombers as their next game was Friday night, against the Weyburn Red Wings. Head coach and GM Mike Reagan was to join the team back on the bench for Saturday's game following his three game suspension. The Bombers play host to the Melfort Mustangs Tuesday night as they wind down on the month of January. Following Tuesday's game, the Bombers play host to the Yorkton Terriers in a double header weekend.
