Bombers beat Millionaires in 6-1 drubbing

Southern road trips aren't supposed to be easy. However, it seems nobody bothered to tell that to the Flin Flon Bombers. Flin Flon beat Melville 6-1 Thursday night, their second big win in as many nights.

Melville got an early goal from Tucker Scantlebury, but it was all Flin Flon after that. The Bombers hit the Millionaires harder than ten years of back taxes, scoring six unanswered goals. Eric Sinclair led the way with the team's first two goals, followed by markers from Teal Sobkowicz, Jordan McCausland, Nick Shumlanski and Mason Etter.

In what's becoming a frequent event at Bomber games, the opposing team pulled their starting goalie after a poor start. Melville starter Brett Friesen was yanked after giving up four goals on 19 shots. His replacement, Colby Entz, fared little better, making only eight saves and giving up two goals.

Meanwhile, Bomber goalie Brenden Newton earned the win with 16 saves.

Flin Flon now has a twelve game point streak, dating back to December 30. The Bombers have earned 23 out of 24 possible points since returning from the holiday break, their only blemish coming after a shootout loss to Yorkton on Jan. 20. The Bombers now have a nice 69 points on the year, eight ahead of Nipawin and only six points behind the league-leading Battlefords North Stars.

The Bombers will now head down Saskatchewan Highway 10 to Wilcox, SK to face the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday night. The Bombers conclude their southern road swing Sunday afternoon with a matchup against the Estevan Bruins.
