The Management team for the Canada West entry at the upcoming World Junior ÔAÕ Challenge has announced the names of 40 players chosen to take part in an evaluation camp, which is slated for this weekend in Yorkton. The players are from the Superior International Junior Hockey League, Manitoba Junior Hockey League, and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The intent of the camp is to give the staff of Canada West a better idea of the talent available in the three eastern most leagues that contribute to Canada West. The Alberta Junior Hockey League and the British Columbia Hockey League will also be contributing players, as chosen by the management of Canada West. However, this SIJHL-MJHL-SJHL camp is a very unique three day event that will better expose the three leagues as far as young talent is concerned. The players will check-in at their respective hotel Sunday night and they will be randomly divided up into Team Green and Team Black. On Monday, Green will practice at the Farrell Agencies Arena at 9 a.m. Team Black practices at 10:45 a.m. and then a scrimmage takes place from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday will see Black practice at 9 a.m., Green will work out at 10:45 a.m., and then a highly anticipated game, full of intensity as potential Canada West jobs are on the line, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to attend. The days following that, members of the Canada West management team will regroup and finalize the 22-man roster that will make up Canada West (players from BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, MJHL, SIJHL). Here is a list of the 17 SJHL players selected to participate in Yorkton. These players were chosen based on Canada West scouting and input from Central Scouting and recomendations from each SJHL Head Coach.
