The Flin Flon Bombers are hoping a second chance is just what Jared Kissick needs. The rugged 19-year-old forward seemingly struggled to find his place with the MJHL's Winkler Flyers last season, garnering six assists in 42 games. But two years ago, the Thompson native was averaging more than a point per game at the AAA level as a member of the Norman North Stars. "We're going to give him a chance to try and find his offensive touch again," said Bomber coach and GM Ryan Hoffman, who secured Kissick's services this week for future considerations. While the 5'9", 175 lb. Kissick does have the ability to put pucks in the net, Hoffman believes that the newest Bomber can also help keep them out. "He's a good two-way player," said the coach. "He's a good skater, and he should be able to help us on the penalty kill." Kissick will rejoin former North Stars linemate Richard Dupre, and Hoffman is anxious to see whether the pair can re-ignite some of the chemistry they shared. Whatever piece of the puzzle Kissick turns out to be, Hoffman said the forward is entering a good situation in Flin Flon. "For him, it's a fresh start and an opportunity to play a more significant role than he did in Winkler," said the coach, "and we'll see what he makes of that opportunity." Kissick is the fifth addition to the Bombers this summer, but Hoffman isn't done tinkering with his roster just yet. "Our quest for a goalie continues, and we're hopefully working toward getting that solved very shortly," he said.7/29/2005
