Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers couldn't make their way around La Ronge Ice Wolves' goalie Alex Rajotte Wednesday night as the meshminder was on the ball. Blocking 41 of the team's 42 shots, the Bombers found themselves down 8-1 to the home team. The Christmas break isn't treating the Bombers very well as they lost their second game in as many nights since back on the road. Hitting the La Ronge Ice Wolves on their way home from Tuesday night's contest against the Battlefords North Stars, the Bombers found themselves down for the count. Heading into La Ronge with one of two possible points from the North Stars, with the end result a shootout, it was a similar story on paper as the last time the two played. With two losses under their belts from the fall season against the Ice Wolves, Wednesday night's battle wasn't in the Bombers' favour. Down 2-0 in the first period, including a shorthanded goal against them, the Bombers earned their sole marker of the game with :10 left in the period. Jay Young lit the lantern with help from Landon Hibert and David Roper as the Bombers were down 2-1. The second period was in the home team's favour as they managed four more goals against Devin Buffalo. La Ronge saw Brett McNevin (1:06) Nathan Boyer (3:44), Wilson Dumais (4:56) and Zac Ashdown (12:55) making the big markers. Down 6-2, four of those goals coming in the first five minutes of the second period, Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan brought Buffalo to the bench while Jeff Stallard, of Creighton, made his way to the mesh. Stallard was called up from the Midget AAA Parkland Rangers for Wednesday night's game. A scoreless remaining second period, the Bombers and Ice Wolves mashed out a third period, which went in favour of the home team. Earning two more goals, now against Stallard, Byron Sorensen made it 8-1 for the victory. The blueliner made his first marker at 5:03 of the third period with the second coming in at 12:31. Over the course of the game the Ice Wolves handed off 37 shots _ five less than the Bombers. Handing off 42 shots to Ice Wolves goalie Rajotte. Neither the Bombers nor the Ice Wolves picked up on their power play opportunities, five for the Bombers and three for the Ice Wolves, though La Ronge earned a short handed goal. The Bombers looked for redemption this past weekend as they hosted the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday night. Hosting for not only the first time in the 2012 part of the season, but since their double-header against the Estevan Bruins at the start of December. Back on home ice, the Bombers played their first of five home games this month _ with another six road games remaining.
