Bradyn McCullough loves the great outdoors and the small towns that provide it. He has several memories with family, friends and his girlfriend. "Well my grandpa and dad took me fishing and hunting," says McCullough, "so I grew up with it. I do a lot of fly fishing." McCullough started hunting when he was six or seven years old and has been fishing since he was little. "I haven't gone hunting since moving to Calgary," he says. McCullough has done some fly fishing and guiding with his father on the Bow River, which is taking people on a fishing tour. McCullough was born in Prince Albert and grew up in Martinsville for three years. He also lived in Lumsden for four years and has been living in Calgary for five years. He has moved around a lot because his father is in commercial real estate and goes where the market is prospering. McCullough has never enjoyed living in the city as he prefers small communities and living in the mountains because he finds it to be more peaceful, slower - "how life should be to appreciate things." He feels small town life gives more time do things he truly enjoys. "I really like Flin Flon," he says. "Just to get back to a small town. People here are more friendly, hockey is bigger and people are into it. "Flin Flon balances life and you have time to do everything," McCullough says. When it comes to his enjoyment of outdoor activities, he misses being with his friends, but he also enjoys it with his girlfriend, Sheena. "We have a good time and we have a lot in common outside of work," he says, of his four-year relationship with her. Other outdoor activities that McCullough enjoys are snowboarding and watching the X Games. "I like the adrenaline," he says, as he enjoys jumping off cliffs and hitting jumps. "I watch snowboarding and mountain biking," he says. Asked what he thought about snowboarding being an Olympic sport, his response was that it's good because "it takes skill and dedication to do it. "Likely have to practice more for that than for hockey," he said. When McCullough was heavily interesting in snowboarding he was able to do a backwards 720, which is a full flip twice. With all the times that McCullough has spent outdoors, his favourite was with his family was at Whitefish River, which people have to fly to, to access. McCullough, his dad and brother fished all day and caught 50 pickerel. "We had a really good time," he says. "My dad dropped my Oakley sunglasses in the water when a bug hit him in the head."10/24/2005
