For one week, Flin Flon Bombers rookie defenseman Myles Masse is the SJHL's best defenseman. The league recognized Masse for the period ending Jan. 8 after he collected two goals and two assists in two games against the Melfort Mustangs. "It's a great honour," Masse said. "It's not all on me, my teammates helped me there. Lester (Andrew Leslie) gave me a couple of nice passes for a couple goals." The Regina, SK, native has four goals and nine assists in 32 games. His goal for the season is to collect 20 points. With 16 games left, Masse has a good chance to earn the seven points needed. "Well I think I've been playing pretty good," he said. "I've been starting to get a couple more breaks and the puck's been going in the net for me." Masse's coach Doug Stokes has also taken notice of the rookie defenseman's play. "I thought Myles had a great week actually," Stokes said. "He played very very well. That's probably his most consistent he's been in three straight games that I've seen him in all year." Stokes added that Masse has tremendous ability and a huge upside. "It's a matter of playing with a little more fire in his belly and I think he's done that in the last three games," Stokes added.11/1/06
