What's expected to be a promising season for the Flin Flon Bombers starts with the annual Bomber golf tournament Aug. 25 at the Phantom Lake Golf Club. "It's the end of the off-season," said Bombers vice-president, Lee Deary, who talked about the tournament, which will be one day prior to camp. "You can pick your player," he said, if a participant is in a foursome. Blake Rolston and Richard Dupre are among 18 returnees, while Calvin Bartel and Steven Robinson are among the six signed to select from. Deary has made 100 spots available for the $50 day of fun that includes a steak dinner. The only significant change from last year is there are three hole-in-one contests. There will be a chance to win a car from Northland Ford, a Mike Weir Visa card with a $10,000 credit limit and a prize worth $5,000 from Murray Dunn. HBMS is also holding a putting contest. "It's a great event for fans to get together with the players in a casual atmosphere," Deary said. "A round of golf and a great meal." People should contact the Bomber office by Aug. 23 at 687-4404 to reserve their spot.
