Bomber Game Report

The Bombers are back on a winning streak, picking up their third straight win by beating Weyburn 5-3.

Flin Flon picked up their sixth win in their past seven games by starting strong and following through on the Wings, scoring their first goal less than six minutes into the game when Brock Mueller beat Weyburn goalie Dazza Mitchell. Jackson Hassman tied the game back up for Weyburn moments later, but by the end of the first, a goal by Barron Stibbe pushed the Bombers back into the lead, 2-1.

Flin Flon would not relinquish the lead after that. A third goal came from Liam Bridger early in the second, and while Weyburn's Ty Mason and Nick Kovacs would both find holes in Harmon Laser-Hume's armour, Kylynn Olafson scored the eventual game winner late in the second.

Ethan Mercer potted an empty netter in the dying seconds of the third to ice the win for Flin Flon.

Laser-Hume stopped 20 shots in a winning effort, while Mitchell, much like teammate Matt Schoephoerster the night earlier, was pelted, stopping 44 shots.

Flin Flon has drawn back even for second place in the league with Humboldt - as of Friday night, both teams have 71 points, though the Broncos have a game in hand on Flin Flon. La Ronge stays fourth with 65 points, while Melfort - who beat the Ice Wolves Friday night - are nipping at their heels, one point back in fifth with two games in hand.

The Bombers have six games left on their season schedule - one on the road Feb. 28 against Yorkton, a pivotal clash March 1 in Humboldt, a pair of home games March 3 and 7 against Nipawin and Melfort and a home-and-home series against La Ronge March 10 and 11.
