Bomber Game Report

Count 'em up - one, two, three, four, five, six, seven straight wins for the Flin Flon Bombers. The bomb squad came to play Tuesday night, getting a 4-0 shutout in Kindersley.

Jaxon Martens got the party going with a first-period powerplay goal, then kept it going with another marker in the opening moments of the second period. Brett Wieschorster got on the board late in the third period to ice the game with a powerplay goal, while Jaeden Mercier completed the dance with a final goal with 30 seconds to go.

Bomber goalie Ben Montgomery picked up his first SJHL shutout and second win in the league, making 21 stops on a quiet night in the Bomber crease. Matt Pesenti, on the other hand, was shelled in the Kindersley net, making 49 saves on 53 shots.

Flin Flon extends its current winning streak to seven games and extends its lead on top of the Sherwood division to three points, with the Bombers' 55 points on top of Melfort's 52, despite the Bombers having played three fewer games. The Bombers are also third in the league in both standings and winning percentage, but are inching closer to second-place Estevan's 59 points.

The Bombers will play two more games this week, both against La Ronge - first at home Jan. 28, then on the road Jan. 29. All current provincial health orders for the Bombers' home game will apply, including attendance restricted to 250 spectators. Following that, the Bombers will go on a lengthy road trip through next week, playing five games from Feb. 1-8, all on the road.
