The Bombers are behind the eight-ball heading back to Flin Flon, losing Game 2 against Battlefords 4-2 and going down 2-0 in the series.
The Stars got a pair of first period markers courtesy of Jake Southgate, first a bad angle shot that snuck its way into the net and then a score from a scrum in the goalmouth. Jacob Vockler would cutt the Bombers' deficit to one with a late first period goal of his own.
Battlefords would continue on in the second, with Dace Prymak and Steven Kesslering each scoring to make it a 4-1 game through 40 minutes. Rylan Thiessen did get a powerplay score for the Bombers in the dying seconds, but the result was unchanged.
Bomber netminder Cal Schell made 27 saves, while Michael Harroch earned his second win with a 31 save performance.
The Stars, after a 7-3 win against the Bombers Friday night, now hold a 2-0 advantage over the Bombers going into Games 3 and 4 in Flin Flon, which will take place Tuesday and Wednesday nights. In the six times the Bombers and Stars have faced each other this year, the Stars have won four times, including the first two playoff games - but all six games were eventually won by the home team.
The Bombers are now the only team in the SJHL playoffs that hasn't won a game yet - all other series are tied at ones. Estevan tied their first round series against Notre Dame up with a 4-1 win Saturday, while La Ronge got a sterling performance from goalie Xavier Cannon in a 2-0 shutout upset win over Humboldt. For the second straight night, a game went to double overtime, where Yorkton's Kishaun Gervais gave the Terriers a 4-3 win and the series tie against Melfort.
