Bomber Game Report

Kindersley got the best of the Flin Flon Bombers Tuesday night at the SJHL Showcase in Warman, with the Bombers losing 2-1.

Flin Flon opened the scoring very early, with a goal by Cole Duperreault only 17 seconds into the game giving the Bombers an early lead. However, that lead was lost by the end of the first period - first from a Logan Linklater shot halfway through the period, then with Brenden Lee getting a stick on a shot by Charles Obobaifo, giving Kindersley a 2-1 lead. Neither team added any further offence for the rest of the game.

Brett Sweet got the win for Kindersley, making 35 saves in his first SJHL win. Max Hildebrand, playing his second game as a Bomber, received his first L, making 19 stops.

Having eight points so far this season, Flin Flon now sits in a three-way tie for third place in the SJHL standings as of Oct. 6, behind Battlefords (11 points in seven games) and Melfort (nine points in six games). Nipawin and Humboldt also have eight points so far this season. However, the Bombers sit sixth in the league in points percentage - both Nipawin and Humboldt have played fewer games than Flin Flon and Estevan, who have played five games, has six points, enough to finish slightly higher than Flin Flon.

The Bombers will have not one, but two chances to redeem their loss to the Klippers, both at home this week - first on Oct. 8, then again Oct. 9.
