Take that winning streak and extend it to six. The Bombers beat up on Notre Dame again Wednesday, taming the Hounds 5-0.

Much like the two teams' double-date at the Forum last week, it didn't take long for the Bombers to get on the scoresheet. Within three minutes, rookie Reid Arberry got a loose puck that goalie Jesse Pye failed to clear from the goalmouth and shovelled it past the netminder.

Not long after, with the Bombers down a man, Justin Lies grabbed the puck and went full Leeroy Jenkins on the penalty kill, blowing right past the Hounds defenders and beating Pye clean with a bullet-quick wrister, making it 2-0 on an unassisted shorty. Flin Flon would enter the second period with that 2-0 lead intact.

The fun continued for the Bombers in the third, as forward Kylynn Olafson, playing his first game of the season after missing time with an injury, circled back and fed Noah Houle, who beat Pye with a long well-placed wrister. Jacob Vockler almost made it 4-0, but rang a wrist shot off the crossbar.

Flin Flon would, in fact, make it 4-0 midway through the period on a powerplay, with the puck coming around to Cheechoo Lathlin, who blasted a one-timer past Pye. After missing almost all of last season with an injury, Lathlin's first goal as a Bomber and in junior A hockey put the Bombers up four.

The third period was more or less just 20 minutes of mandated ice time - Lies scored his second of the night on a powerplay, getting the last touch on a puck that squeaked through Pye's pads and behind him.

Kenny Marquart picked up his first shutout of the season, stopping 23 saves on a quiet night in the crease. The game marks the second time that Marquart and fellow goalie Harmon Laser-Hume have had shutouts on back-to-back nights - Laser-Hume shut out the Terriers on Tuesday. The two combined for two weekend shutouts over Kindersley at the Whitney Forum last year.

The Bombers now sport a 7-0-0-1 record this season and lead the SJHL standings with 15 points, leaving just one point - from an overtime loss to Melfort in their home opener - on the board. Since the loss, the Bombers have won six straight games, including three over the Hounds, two over La Ronge and Tuesday night's win against Yorkton.

Melfort and Humboldt are both undefeated but have played fewer games than the Bombers - Melfort, with six games, is second with 12 points, while Humboldt is tied for third with 10 points in five games, tied with Weyburn, who the Broncos whooped 10-1 Wednesday night.

While the Bombers' point streak continued, two of the Bombers' prominent player point streaks were snapped, as both Alexi Sylvestre and Jacob Vockler were held off the scoresheet. Both players had points in each of the Bombers' last five games. Both Lies and Houle have their own point streaks, which have been extended to six games for both players. Both Houle and Lies have points in every Bomber game this year except the home opener loss to Melfort.

Flin Flon's long southern road swing will have a day off Thursday before a pair of games over the weekend - a Friday night date in Estevan against the rival Bruins, then a Saturday night matchup with the Red Wings in Weyburn.
