After decimating the OCN Blizzard a night earlier in The Pas, the Flin Flon Bombers welcomed their northern rivals to an exhibition rematch Saturday at the Whitney Forum. And although the final score was much closer than Friday's 11-3 thumping, the Maroon and White pleased the 700-plus Bomber faithful in attendance with a 4-3 overtime victory. Flin Flon's Pierre-Luc Boucher got things started 2:57 in, lighting the lamp on a feed from Dennis Kubat and Reid Macleod. The Bombers doubled their lead less than three minutes later thanks to Gabe Capozzi, assisted by both Travis Savard and Steven Joncas, at 5:35. But the Blizzard answered back just minutes later with a powerplay goal by Korbin Ducharme, assisted by Keldon Sanderson. After 11:29 of play in the first period, the Bombers came back and put another one past the OCN, bringing the score to 3-1. OCN didn't take it lightly and came back to within one, scoring their second goal of the night courtesy of Andrew Garba, assisted by Ryan Dreger. With just minutes left in the first period, Bomber Travis Savard earned his second goal of the night, assisted by Steven Joncas, bringing the score to 4-2. The second period was scoreless until the very end. With just seconds, the Blizzard cut down the home side's lead to 4-3. Ryan Bettesworth recorded the marker, with Keldon Sanderson and Kirk Olimb picking up helpers. The third period saw little action, with one goal from OCN, matching the Bombers at four goals apiece. It came courtesy of Dale Warkentin, with assists from Kirk Olimb and Ryan Bettesworth. After a short intermission, the Bombers and Blizzard got back to business in OT. After 3:23 seconds of play, Pierre-Luc Boucher brought the crowd to their feet with a goal that gave the Bombers a 5-4 decision. As tradition has it, a moose leg was thrown to the ice as the Bombers smacked their sticks in a circle at centre ice.
