Flin Flon Bomber forward Reid McLeod isn't just gaining attention from Bomber fans, but also the SJHL. Getting three goals and six points in three games earned the rookie Player of the Week recognition. The SJHL's website stated that the Teulon, MB, native earned the honour after he had one assist in a win over Yorkton on Oct. 10. He then added one goal and one assist in his team's 4-2 Friday night loss to Notre Dame. He also scored twice and set up another in Saturday's victory over Humboldt. "It's a nice honour to get, especially so early in my career," said McLeod, who was recognized for the week ending Oct. 8. "I'm just happy to see our team finally performing and on a roll." McLeod received the news from his father, who called him in the morning. "It's kind of nice to see the league recognizes that I'm working hard and playing hard," he said. "My linemates have been helping me out quite a bit. It's not a big thing, the team is winning right now, that's the main thing." "He should give all the credit to me and (Pierre-Luc) Boucher, that's for sure," said linemate Dennis Kubat, jokingly. "No, he's good. He deserved it and had a good week for sure. He's been playing good ever since we got to be a line." Bombers coach-GM Doug Stokes is glad to see his recruited rookie shine. "I'm happy for him," he said. "He's progressively got better for us each day. His work ethic is very, very good on a consistent basis and I'm glad he's got rewarded for his performance." The Bombers bench boss said McLeod was a good player when recruited, but has exceeded expectations quicker than expected. "He's complete," Stokes said, of the 18-year-old, who plays at both ends of the rink and is strong on the puck offensively and has the ability to shoot. As of Oct. 8 McLeod was tied with all rookies in goals with seven and his 12 points were two off the lead. He's working on a four-game point scoring streak and has scored a point in five of his last six games.
