The Flin Flon Bombers couldn't muster a win to open the exhibition season, losing 5-4 in overtime Monday against the Swan Valley Stampeders. In the first period of the road game, Flin Flon started things off with Jordan Crone scoring on the powerplay at 2:46, assisted by Owen Woloshyn and Fred Lamontaigne. At 3:25 Bomber Fred Lamontaigne kept things going with another goal, assisted by Robert Beaudry. Swan Valley would begin to mount a comeback in the second period, with Kyle Severson scoring on the powerplay just two minutes and eight seconds in. Cody Courley picked up an assist. Flin Flon regained a two-goal cushion on the strength of a Cole Wilson goal at 5:29, making the score 3-1. In return, Swan Valley answered back with a goal from Cody Hart, assisted by Devin Reinhardt and Tyler Prentice, at 13:34. The Bombers brought the second period to an end after Mitch Dougall scored at 16:33, leaving the tally at 4-2 for the visitors. The goal was assisted by Brendan Bentz. Swan Valley started off the third period early on with a powerplay goal after 25 seconds of play. The marker from Jeremy Lavlolette, assisted by Cody Straker and Alexandre Leclerc, brought the score 4-3. Swan Valley's Dustin Kimber (assisted by Darcy Riddell and Cody Courley) ended the scoring in the third period after only 1:50 of play, bringing the score to a tie at four goals apiece. At the 1:57 mark of overtime, Swan Valley completed the comeback when Kevin Braun scored on a feed from Steph Vigier. In goal for the Bombers was Carsen Chubak, who saw the first 20 minutes of the game. Chubak stopped both shots heading for the Flin Flon net. Swan Valley's Josh Hohn started off the game, letting in three of the 24 shots aimed at him. The second period saw Flin Flon's Dustin Lehne in net, stopping 10 of his 12 shots. The third period had a change up for Swan Valley, which put Kyle Winters between the pipes, stopping 11 of his 12 shots. Bomber Joel Rumpel, playing the last 22 minutes of the game, stopped six of the nine shots on goal. The Bombers evened up their pre-season record on Wednesday night with a 5-1 victory in La Ronge over the Ice Wolves. David Linsley scored a hat trick for the visitors to complement goals by Shawn McNaulty and Jean-Sebastien Bergeron. Drawing assists for Flin Flon were Jorden Cherney, Myles Masse, Harley Garrioch, Bergeron, Dominic Martel and Dustyn Clegg. Bombers rookie goalie Riley Ross turned aside 16 of 17 shots in the win.
