Bomber Beat: Team better than its record suggests

Welcome to another year of Bomber Beat and another year of Flin Flon Bomber hockey. Bomber Beat isn’t going to be a play-by-play of every game, but rather a behind-the-scenes look at what is going on at any given point in the season.

Welcome to another year of Bomber Beat and another year of Flin Flon Bomber hockey.

Bomber Beat isn’t going to be a play-by-play of every game, but rather a behind-the-scenes look at what is going on at any given point in the season.

After picking up just their second win of the season last Saturday, Oct. 10, it is clear to me that the Bombers are better than their record (2-5-0-2 heading into tonight, Friday) indicates.

While the 5-2 loss to Kindersley last Friday, Oct. 9, was pretty embarrassing, I wasn’t disappointed with the way the Bombers played.

You can argue that the officiating was terrible. It was. Head coach Mike Reagan held nothing back during his postgame interviews, and I didn’t disagree with anything he said.

However, the Bombers didn’t help themselves, taking some very stupid penalties early in the game that probably caused a lot of the later calls to go against them, deserved or not.

The referees are hard enough on our team; we don’t need to be giving them excuses to throw the book at us. Once the leaders on our team realize that, the goals will take care of themselves.

This is an exciting time of year. Personally, I’m excited to see how this year’s team shapes up.

Players are still fighting for a spot on the team. Our roster will look a lot different after the Jan. 10 trade deadline, and there is still a lot of hockey to be played between now and then.

If you haven’t made it out to the Whitney Forum yet this season, why don’t you make a point to take in a game and see for yourself?
