Fans still talk about the greats who donned the Maroon and White sweaters back in the day. Some fans grew up watching those players pass the puck, find the back of the net and check a player or two. Others have only heard about the great stories or watched their careers in the NHL. Now the Flin Flon Bombers will be bringing back a few of the great players for an alumni weekend. The 2009 Alumni game and social will take place at the Whitney Forum this coming October 9 and 10. Players who showed their stuff from 1960 and onward will be in town for the reunion weekend. "It's going to be good to get out there and see everyone," head coach and GM Mike Reagan was quoted as saying on the team's website. "I can say as a group, we're all very proud to be Bombers and this gives everyone excuses to come back and visit with friends in a fun environment." Along with the game, the organization says there will be a fundraising social at the R.H. Channing Auditorium of the Flin Flon Community Hall. "The social gives fans another avenue to support the club, as well as a way for the former Bombers to give back to a hockey-loving community," the website quoted the coach as saying. The Bombers have had a few rough years on the ice as well as off. Before the game with the Kindersley Klippers, who are in town both the Friday and Saturday, the Bomber organization hopes to announce the end of the Kill the Debt campaign with a final installment. The organization also says they will be paying off a major portion of the debt to the City of Flin Flon at the team's home opener on September 19 against the Melfort Mustangs.
