The Flin Flon Bombers outshot and outplayed the Notre Dame Hounds en route to a 7-1 victory last Friday, Oct. 25. The Bombers hosted the dogs in an important game as Flin Flon sat one game below .500 heading into the match-up. A 7-1 win let the Bombers move back to an even record after a loss the previous night against the Estevan Bruins. Friday's game saw the Bombers not only outscore the Hounds by six, but nearly doubled their shots on net. Devin Buffalo was stellar in net, turning aside 25 of 26 shots. In net for the House, Brett Soles faced 57 shots, stopping 50 of them. Notre Dame coach Kevin White pulled Soles in favour of Alexi Thibaudeau to finish the night. Thibaudeau stopped both shots that came his way in the final 2:26 of play. Flin Flon's Cam Blair started the scoring with a power play goal at 2:31. The lead didn't last long as the Hounds quickly tied the game at 2:59. But that would be the visitors' only goal for the night as the Bombers went on to earn six more. Al Kapcheck picked up two of those goals with one in the first period at 19:48 on a power play and his second to make it a 3-1 game at 9:54 of the second period. The third period saw offensive output from Danys Chartrand and a hat trick from Brett Boehm. Chartrand lit the lantern at 2:54 while Boehm had his first goal at 8:23, followed by the team's sixth goal of the night at 17:07. Boehm picked up his, and the team's, final goal at 17:34 to make it a 7-1 game and earn the first hat trick for the Bombers this season. The Maroon and White travelled to Nipawin last night, after The Reminder went to press, for their chance to move above .500. Friday's win left the Bombers in third place in the Sherwood Conference with 12 points _ six below the leading La Ronge Ice Wolves. Tonight, the Bombers are in Humboldt.
