The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has announced 18-year-old Flin Flon forward Tyler Beachell as the Sherwood Player of the Month for December. Beachell led all players during the month with eight goals and was second overall in points with 14 in just nine games played. Beachell is a first year player in the SJHL, having graduated from the Interlake Lightning 'AAA' Midget program in Manitoba. Beachell has benefited from playing with 20-year-old veteran Andrew Skrabek on Flin Flon's top line. Skrabek, who had six goals and 13 points during the month is one of the runners up. For the season, Beachell has 13 goals and 18 assists in 37 games, leaving him three points behind Notre Dame's Chad Anderson for the overall lead amonst SJHL rookies in scoring. Also considered were the entire Kindersley top line of Josh Zimmer (14-points), Troy Schwab (15-points), and Josh Sim (13-points). Estevan's Chris Stubel and Notre Dame's Eric Boisvert were also on the short list. The SJHL Itech Goaltender of the Month is 20-year-old Juliano Pagliero of the Estevan Bruins. Pagliero was a perfect 7-and-0 during the month of December and also sported a sparkling 2.10-GAA and .925-SPCT. This season, Pagliero has been a workhorse for the Bruins, posting a record of 22-5-and-4 to go with a 2.16-GAA and .927-SPCT. His career year is further evidenced by the fact that despite winning the Goalie of the Month Award, his SPCT for December was lower than what it is for the season. Other players considered were Weyburn's Russel Monette and Battlefords' Dustin MacDonald. MacDonald was the November winner for the Itech SJHL Goaltender of the Month.
