The Saskatchewan Centennial Canoe Quest committee is looking for adventure paddlers to register for the race of a lifetime. Next summer, 25 teams will test their courage by paddling over 1,000 kilometers down the historic fur trade route ? the Voyageur Highway. You can celebrate Saskatchewan's Centennial by joining the Saskatchewan Centennial Canoe Quest (SCCQ) team on a two week canoe race and pageant across Northern Saskatchewan, June 18 - July 4, 2005. A minimum total prize package of $50,000 will be available. The SCCQ is a Centennial Celebration of Northern Communities, a race and pageant set on a wilderness stage. Be part of this unforgettable adventure ? test your strength and prove your worth the way the Voyagers did ? at the working end of a paddle as part of a team pushing a twenty five foot canoe on the incredible journey from Clearwater River Dene Nation to Cumberland House. Paddle the renowned water routes that helped define Saskatchewan as a province. Race along the route and see the North as it should be seen ? on the waterways that link the culturally diverse communities of Northern Saskatchewan to their unique and pristine landscape. Enjoy Aboriginal culture and hospitality as never experienced before and discover the value of sharing and comradeship. As you paddle your way down the historic water routes you will encounter community after community eager to celebrate your success and the Saskatchewan Centennial with cultural festivities of food, dance and activities. See Northern Saskatchewan as it is meant to be enjoyed and discover yourself in the process. If you dare, register today. Call (306) 839-4665 or email to: [email protected] to have a registration package sent to you.
