Between McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac, Creighton Community School and Hapnot Collegiate, at least 240 basketball players from around the province competed in this year's Flin Flon/Creighton Junior High Basketball Tournament. Twenty-three teams, from Flin Flon, Creighton, The Pas, Swan River and Cranberry Portage, competed in for the Sportsmanship Trophy last weekend. Organizer John Belfry, with the Flin Flon School Division, says having the tournament was just another fun way to get the students together, and play some basketball. ÒI thought it was great,Ó he says. ÒWe got some great reviews from outside coaches.Ó The idea of the tournament was to give equal playing time to players, along with bringing sportsmanship back into the game. ÒWe had positive comments from parents and kids, too,Ó he says. ÒThe Sportsmanship was excellent and so were the games.Ó To throw in some more fun, there was a Doe DoeÕs Lay Up Contest, which gave each team one minute to get as many lay ups as possible. ÒIt was just a fun event,Ó says Belfry. Results from the past weekend tournament are as follows: Division 1, girls Ruth Betts School Team 1, Baker/Bell Sportsmanship Trophy Minitonas Division 2, girls Creighton Team 2, Atkinson Sportsmanship Trophy Cranberry Portage Division 3, girls Ruth Betts School, Team Rideout Sportsmanship Trophy Creighton Team 1, Straile Division 1, boys The Pas Team 1 Sportsmanship Trophy Minitonas Division 2 McIsaac School 2, Belfry Sportsmanship McIsaac Team 3, Wride
