Between starting off the season in the snow and the rain coming down more than usual, it is easily said the weather was the biggest disappointment in this year's baseball season. But, president Sheri Campbell says even though it rained and was cold, the players and club had a successful season. With comparable numbers to last year, she says the season went "pretty well." The baseball season is short enough as it is, but Campbell says with her newly formed executive, they are looking into possibilities for next season to keep things on track. Ideas have been thrown around, she says, about looking for an indoor location to play, for the younger ages, when it is either raining or snowing. As well for next year, the club is looking into adding a fast ball team as well as introducing more players to the youth slo pitch league. Having a fast ball team would enable the team to host a tournament and even compete against teams like The Pas and Snow Lake, says Campbell. With quite a few players between the ages of the oldest baseball team and the age limit to play slo pitch, Campbell says she hopes to generate more interest in a youth slo pitch league for next season. Although there was some interest this year Ð it just wasn't enough. Also on the agenda for discussion is new equipment for next season. With the baseball season being over as quickly as it is, talk is in the air of having another season start up in August or even September. Campbell says there was talk about looking to start it this year, but without help, nothing can be done. "I'm open to it, but we've have to have the volunteers in place," she says. Hopefully next year, she says, things will get underway for a second season. But it also depends on player interest. Campbell says it will be great for the athletes as they are getting ready to go back to school. As well, it will be something to do before hockey and skating starts. Looking ahead to next year, Campbell says the executive has some good ideas and they are already planning for the season.
