The Flin Flon Bombers just wanted to have fun and players from Ray Donaldson's bantam A team reaped the benefits. The two teams were combined at the Whitney Forum on Sunday night for a game and smiles were all-around. "Oh hell yeah," said Bombers back-up goalie Travis Crickard. He and Zane Kalemba played out, while teammates Myles Masse and Keelan Cook went between the pipes. Some nice defensive plays, goals and dipsy-doodles were attempted as four goalies switched. "I think we should do this on a monthly basis, to be honest with you," said Crickard with his Newfoundland accent. "Gives me a chance to play out and meet a couple more kids and for us to have a bit of fun. Our hockey that we play, we can get really serious and it just gives us a chance to relax and just shoot around the puck." That they did, as well as goof off, and enjoy a few playful fights as Travis Fehr had his jersey pulled over his head by Richard Dupre. Braden Olszewski had an equal combatant in Tyler Fullowka. "I think it's a really good idea for some of these kids that have never played hockey at a higher level to go here and play with these guys," said Donaldson. "Like let's be realistic, these guys are leaders in our community. It's nice to see them play with the younger kids, like the bantam age, who are your best bantam players, but they go out and work hard and have fun." Carter Leclair had a good time on the ice and thought it was a good experience. "It was fun," Carter said. He particularly liked the body-checking. "Knowing that we could hit them and they can't hit us that hard," he said with a laugh. "I would love to do that again."12/14/2005
