The Flin Flon Kinsmen Bantam 'AA' Bombers travelled to Saskatoon on January 28-30 to participate in a tournament. In the first game, the Bombers met the Saskatoon Old Skool 'AA' Bobcats. In the first period the Bombers got on the board at 8:19 on a goal by Owen Woloshyn set up by Cory Dupre and Landon Rowe. In the second period the Bombers went up 2-0 on a goal by Nick Hamilton assisted by Wes Gawiak and Ryan Fox. Less than two minutes later, Owen Woloshyn notched his second marker of the evening, unassisted. Then Nick Hamilton scored the Bombers' fourth goal assisted by Ryan Fox and Jordan Crone. The Bobcats would get on the board less than two minutes later but this was all they managed as the Bombers went on to score two more goals in the second period. Cory Dupre tallied unassisted and Ryan Fox assisted by Landon Rowe. In the third period the Bombers scored late on a goal by Nick Hamilton (hat trick), assisted by Landon Rowe and Ryan Fox. Final score was 7-1 for the Bombers. The Bombers then went on to meet the Saskatoon Red Wing Bantam 'AA' on Saturday, January 29. The Bombers got on the board in the first minute on an unassisted goal by Owen Woloshyn. The Red Wings battled back and scored three goals on their own. However, with just over a minute left in the first period, Aaron Bauman connected with a goal assisted by Jordan Crone and, with one second left in the period, Flin Flon tied the score on a goal by Nick Hamilton assisted by Ryan Fox. The score after 20 minutes 3-3. In the second period, Flin Flon scored the only goal midway through the period, tallied by Ryan Fox and assisted by Nick Hamilton. In the third period, the Red Wings would come back hard, and would score two goals to go ahead 5-4. However, less than a minute later, Lyle Leclair would score with an assist from Jordan Crone to tie the score up and then Flin Flon would go ahead with 3:37 left in the period on a goal by Owen Woloshyn, assisted by Landon Rowe. Just over a minute later Nick Hamilton would put the icing on the cake for Flin Flon as he tallied on a goal, assisted by Ryan Fox, giving Flin Flon a 7-5 win. The win put Flin Flon into the semi-final where they met the Saskatoon 'AA' Flyers. After a few tentative minutes in the opening period, Flin Flon let loose with a barrage, scoring five goals in the first period. They then outscored their Saskatoon rivals 7-1 in the second period and coasted to a 16-1 shellacking with four goals in the third period. Leading the Bombers in the points parade was Ryan Fox with a double hat trick (six goals) and two assists, followed by Aaron Bauman with a hat trick, Tanner Korchinski with two goals, Nick Hamilton with a goal and two assists, Wes Gawiak and Landon Rowe with a goal and an assist apiece and single goals going to Lyle Leclair and Owen Woloshyn. Calvin Cairns chipped in with two assists and Skylar Hillier and Cory Dupre each had a helper in the Flin Flon victory. The victory put the Bombers into the final where they met the Winnipeg Bantam 'AA' East Saints. In the final, both teams came out rather tentatively, although each side had good chances in the early going. The Bombers struck for two goals 20 seconds apart at 12:47 and 12:27 of the first period. Scoring for Flin Flon was Owen Woloshyn assisted by Landon Rowe, and Wes Gawiak assisted by Brad Simon. The East Saints would get a goal of their own just over a minute later but Flin Flon would come back on Owen Woloshyn's second goal of the period, assisted by Landon Rowe, giving Flin Flon a lead of 3-1 after the first period. The Bombers would score two goals in the first minute of the second period to take a 5-1 lead. Scoring for the Bombers was Tanner Korchinski assisted by Nick Hamilton and Ryan Fox assisted by Calvin Cairns. The Saints would get one back late in the period, but with only 28 seconds left, Ryan Fox would score Flin Flon's sixth goal assisted by Wes Gawiak. The score after two periods, Flin Flon 6 Winnipeg 2. In the third period Owen Woloshyn would get his hat trick, scoring at 17:42 of the frame, unassisted. Winnipeg would come back with two goals of their own but Flin Flon would reply with two more goals scored by Jordan Crone assisted by Aaron Bauman and Nick Hamilton assisted by Ryan Fox making the final score, Flin Flon 9 Winnipeg 4. Flin Flon made a clean sweep in Saskatoon winning all of their games and taking home the championship plaque. In what was Flin Flon's third tournament victory of the season, the Bombers showed they they were able to take on their big city rivals and come away victorious. The Bantam 'AA' Bombers will play their final tournament of the season in Dauphin before heading to Winkler the weekend of March 4, 5, and 6 for the Provincial Playoffs.
