The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has announced 20-year-old La Ronge forward Kyle Gladue as the Sherwood Player of the Month for February. Gladue, who is in his final SJHL season went on a tear with nine goals and six assists in eight games played during the abbreviated month. Gladue ended up leading the league in goals with 33 and ended the season with 59-points in 52-games.ÊThat's good for second on the Ice Wolves, three back of Jeff Marshall. Other players considered for the award were Lance Herauf of Yorkton and Michael George of the Battlefords North Stars.ÊBoth of those players also earned honourable mentions in January.ÊEstevan's Bear Trapp as well as Terrier forwards Chris Korchinski and Barry Sparvier also ended up on the short list. The SJHL Itech Goaltender of the Month is 18-year-old Andrew Goulet of the Notre Dame Hounds. Goulet, who served as the little used back-up to Chance Gieni for most of the season, got an opportunity to play at the start of the month and has not disappointed.ÊIn fact, he started eight of the final nine games for Notre Dame to end the season and has earned possible playoff playing time as well. This, despite, Gieni's stature as a Player of the Year finalist. Goulet went 4-2-and-1 with a 1.82-GAA and .944-SPCT, easily indicating his high level of play. Other goalies considered were Yorkton's Kevin Dziaduck, Weyburn's Brenden Cuthbert, andÊAlex Gagnon of the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
