Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Flin Flon Bombers have seen decreasing attendance in the past few years. It wasn't uncommon at one time for over 1,200 fans to attend a game _ even on a Tuesday night. Now, this season, the Bombers are averaging 753 fans per game. In the 14 home games, not including Saturday's game, the Bombers' combined attendance was 10,538 fans. Heading into the weekend, that was the third-highest in the SJHL. The Estevan Bruins held the top spot with 12,027 fans in 10 games. Second place went to the Yorkton Terriers with 11,381 fans in 11 games. In previous interviews with The Reminder, Bombers head coach and GM Mike Reagan said he hopes to see attendance at the Whitney Forum climb once again. He said fuller stands create more motivation and energy for the players. The Whitney Forum is capable of holding 1,650 fans, so there is room for nearly 900 more on an average night. The lowest average attendance this season, heading into the weekend, belonged to the La Ronge Ice Wolves with 4,962 in 12 games _ a decent feat considering the size of the town's arena. Prior to last Friday's games, 106,858 fans (many of them repeats) had made their way to at least one SJHL game this season.
