With the Junior Bombers taking over the Whitney Forum throughout the season, this weekend will see some much younger talent as the Flin Flon Minor Hockey AssociationÕs Atom A Provincials are in town. Teams from not only Flin Flon, but Morden, The Pas, Dauphin (two), Portage, Steinbach and Thompson will be taking over the ice in hopes of taking home the gold. Tyler Kittle, coach of the Flin Flon Atom Bombers, says with their new, young team, this is the first time for provincials for the majority of the players, along with the coaches. ÒWeÕre excited,Ó says Kittle, adding that this will be the first time Flin Flon has faced the teams from Morden, Portage and Steinbach. And with it being Provincials, he assures there will be some good hockey from the nine to 10 year olds. ÒAll of the teams will be a challenge,Ó says the coach, Òbut I think The Pas will be the biggest for us.Ó Bomber captain Kieran Black and assistant captain Josh Nowlin, both nine years old, say they are excited for the weekend. ÒWeÕve never been in Provincials before,Ó they both said as coach Kittle added it was the first Provincials for everyone. ÒIÕm nervous about playing the new teams,Ó admits Nowlin, but he says heÕs more excited than anything. An hour before any game the Bombers play, their music can be heard throughout the rink as they pump themselves up with loud music and the coaches talk. And continuing with the FFMHA other teams, the Bombers start off each game with their signature Go Bombers! cheer. From the parents, coaches and players, hockey mom Nara Black says she hopes everyone enjoys the weekend and comes out to support the Atom A Bombers in the Provincials.
