Northern Spirit Taekwondo Academy hosted another Black and Colour Belt test earlier this month. All participants of the March 2 test passed with a commitment and determination to excel in the art of Taekwondo. One of the requirements for Black Belt testing is an essay, which is read to the testing committee. 'The Taekwondo Spirit to me is the essence of all of the tenants (respect, courage, courtesy integrity, humility, perseverance, indomitable spirit and self-control) as well as a sense of accomplishment for all that I have tried, all that I have practiced and all that I have learned.' read Brenda Niedermaier. 'The confidence that I have gained and the confidence that I have watched grow within other students is amazing.' The highlight of the day was watching Kurinchi Vijayaranjan going from 1st poom to 2nd Dan Black Belt. Not only did he shine at his test, he was voted most improved by all Black Belt members watching the test. The Snow Lake members should be congratulated for their attendance and proving themselves as notable competitors in this art. Up and coming is the Iron Fist Tournament in Winnipeg on June 1. - Northern Spirit Taekwondo Academy
