Congratulations to Celine Leclair, this week's Chicken Chef Athlete of the Week. Celine is a grade seven student at McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac who enjoys participating in all school sports. On April 17, she was the Girls Singles Badminton Champion in a tournament held at McIsaac. Although the 13 year-old is gifted in school sports, it's in the field of gymnastics where her athletic talents really shine. Celine first joined organized gymnastics as a five year-old in Snow Lake Ñ a proud member of the Snow Lake Sparklers. Her passion for the sport continued to grow and, when her family moved to Flin Flon last fall, she became a star member of Flinty's Gymnasts. On April 20-21 Celine competed at the Provincial Gymnastics competition held in Beausejour, Manitoba. She took second place, and a silver medal, in the Floor Exercise. She finished fourth in the Balance Beam and earned a sixth overall placing in a field of 18 competitors. Celine credits her coach, Sheena Reid, for helping her to improve in gymnastics. As the winner of our Athlete of the Week award, Celine wins a 9" pizza or two piece chicken dinner from Chicken Chef. Also, everyone is invited to come and watch Celine, and all the other fine gymnasts in Flinty's Gymnasts on the afternoon of Saturday, May 7, when they will be holding a Demonstration Day. Congratulations once again, Celine, for excelling at a sport you love.
