The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce Yorkton forward Scott Sinclair as the Midwest Sportswear Ltd. Player of the Week for the period ending February 6th. The 20-year-old Sinclair scored two goals and four assists in three games (all Terrier wins) during the last seven days. On Wednesday, Sinclair scored one goal and one assist against his former team, Estevan, in helping the Terriers win 4-3. He also had a goal and assist in Friday's win over the Melfort Mustangs. Then, he set up two goals in a road victory over the Bruins one night later. For the season, Sinclair has 14 goals and 22 assists in 46 games.ÊHe has been placed in a checking role for the last month, but has responded with some of his best offensive play in his SJHL career. Sinclair edged La Ronge sniper Kyle Gladue (four games, four goals), as well as teammate Lance Herauf, Estevan's Lorne Tytlandsvik, Melville's Josh Bray and Brandon Peet as well as Bruin Bear Trapp for the award. Defenseman of the Week: Jared Mohr, Battlefords North Stars The SJHL Defenseman of the Week is 19-year-old Jared Mohr of the Battlefords North Stars. The Regina product had two points in a 7-2 win over the Nipawin Hawks last Tuesday. He also had two points in an overtime loss to the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday. This season, Mohr has nine goals and 18 assists in 35 games. Six of his goals have been scored on the powerplay. It's the second time this season that Mohr has won this award. He was also chosen the SJHL's best defenseman during the week ending December 13th. Other players worth mentioning this week include Melville's Chad Krienke and Deder Klassen as well as Humboldt's Joey Eaton and Bob Graham of the Yorkton Terriers. Goaltender of the Week: Chance Gieni, Notre Dame Hounds The SJHL Goaltender of the Week is 20-year-old Chance Gieni of the Notre Dame Hounds. It's the second straight week Gieni has won the award and also the third time overall that he has laid claim to the top goalie of the week laurels.Ê Gieni was 2-and-0 with a 1.50-GAA and .958-SPCT last week in stopping 69-of-72 shots that came his way.Ê Gieni is 23-12-and-5 with a 2.40-GAA and .926-SPCT on the season. Other candidates for last week's top goaltender were La Ronge's Michael Pilote, Brenden Cuthbert of Weyburn, and Melville's Jamie Langen. Sinclair receives a product from Midwest Sportswear Limited. Sinclair, Mohr, and Gieni all get undergarment wear from ITECH. Suspensions and fines The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has suspended Weyburn Red Wings forward/defenseman Daryl Fransoo for five games as a result of his participation in a multiple fight situation against Humboldt on February 5th. Fransoo was deemed to be the instigator of the first fight and partially responsible for the ensuing multiple fight situation.ÊFransoo will miss games on February 8th, 11th, 12th, 15th, and 18th. Weyburn Head Coach Dwight McMillan has been suspended for three games (February 8th, 11th, and 12th) in connection with the same incident. See 'Red' P.# Con't from P.# As a team, the Red Wings have been fined $500. For the Broncos, forward Trevor Selin has been suspended for five games for being the third man involved in a fight and also for being partially responsible for the ensuing multiple fight situation.ÊSelin sits out games played on February 11th, 12th, 15th, 19th, and 20th. Joey Eaton has been suspended for two games for his participation in the multiple fight and will not play on February 11th and 12th. The Humboldt Broncos have been fined $400. Meanwhile, Estevan Bruins Head Coach Kelvin MacKay has been fined $100 for receiving his second game misconduct penalty of the season.
