The first Manitoba Zone 5 dart tournament of the new season took place over last weekend with 20 players participating in a mixed doubles event that had the teams competing in Men's and Ladies Singles for points that would eventually be added to their doubles tally. Keith Loggie took top honors in the Men's Singles picking up eight valuable points and a Pepsi shirt for his efforts while Mary Kozlowski also with eight wins showed the ladies what soft drink she likes. The eventual winners of the event were Mary and her doubles partner for the evening Darryl Nash, with Keith Loggie and his partner Lawrence having to settle for second place after a three-way play off between Lawrence Balfour and Lisa Penner, and Brian and Helen Humphreys. Most points in the Mixed round robin with seven wins was Kevin Nash and Jake Davis Ð just one win shy of a place in the accumulator. High score in the Ladies with a 140 was new-comer Amber Chrisp with the Men's high score of 177 going to Brian Humphreys. Mary shot Ladies high finish, and the Men's high out 107 went to Garry Lyons Keith Loggie and Wayne Shutskoff both hit the mark with 180's. The new Zone executive was "sworn" in with the new Zone president being Jake Davis, Dot Nash secretary treasurer, Shannon Reimer ways and means and Gary Lyons second vice. The Flin Flon Flights dart club has a new executive in place after their annual meeting, Perry Burton takes over as president with Brian Humphreys vice, Trudy Burton looking after the stats and Gwen Blatz and Lillian Gardner secretary treasurer. A total of 54 players have signed up for the coming season held at the legion every Tuesday evening. Last year's dart club executive where congratulated by the members on a job well done.
