Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Members of the Flin Flon-Creighton Aqua Doves performed their figures and routines for parents and friends Tuesday night at the Aqua Centre. The girls did the same routines they performed at the recent Crocus Challenge in Winnipeg, while also receiving awards and certificates. Performing before an audience of more than 100 family members and friends this week, the girls showed what they have learned over the course of the season. Ashley Anderson, Aneska Badenhorst, Gracie Dareichuk, Anna Lies, and Olivia Mathews performed to Cotton Eyed Joe. 'After surviving the dreaded knoxing of their hair _ for the first time _ these girls performed their team routine at the Crocus Challenge, where they earned a second place finish,' said Watershow emcee Colleen McKee during the event. 'It was a real joy to watch them throughout the year, but especially so when the crowd reacted so positively at the Crocus Challenge.' The girls were coached by Rhonda Werbicki. Reanne Kozar, Madelyn Lies, Amy Prince, and Tara Whitbread swam to Stereo Hearts, and were coached by Kendra Kozar. 'The team truly survived through sickness and health. All their hard work earned these girls a fourth place finish at the Crocus Challenge and we all couldn't be happier,' said McKee. 'These are some of our veterans who help teach the younger girls all the right moves with their enthusiasm for this sport.' Jayde Boyd, Kalena Kittle, and Tessley Korchinski performed to We Found Love, with help from coach Fran Gira. See 'Hard...' on pg. 5 Continued from pg. 4 'This trio has found love in all our hearts because of their hard work and determination,' McKee said. 'We are proud to announce they earned themselves a first place finish at the Crocus Challenge. Always good for a laugh and quite a few giggles in the hopeless situations, these veterans add experience and personality to our Aqua Doves team.' Coach Werbicki's pairing of Maryn McKee and Daley Shaw swam to Calling All the Monsters. 'These two first-year swimmers are little monsters,' said Colleen. 'Led by an innovative coach, they worked hard and used their personalities to earn them a first-place finish at the Crocus Challenge in Winnipeg. 'This routine and these girls have been a real pleasure all year and we can't wait to see what they will come up with next year.' Jessie Kozar, Abbey Werbicki, and Shannon Williamson swam to Shake it Up and were coached by Kendra Kozar. 'This trio shook things up at the Crocus Challenge this year, earning them a first place finish. Separated by countries at times, illness and absence, it didn't keep these girls apart when it came to their routine and we are very proud of them,' said Colleen. Gemma Davis, Caitlin Henderson, Ashlea Mathews, Cherity Odut, and Bree Patterson swam their routine to Who Says, with help from coach Kristina Lies. 'This team, fondly known as the Fabulous Five for obvious reasons, came together in January with lots of work to do. With only one girl having precious experience, they all learned from her and each became leaders for each other to create their own moves and help to write their routine,' said Colleen. 'Their hard work earned them a tie for first place in Winnipeg.' Kylee Anderson and Sydni Morissette swam to the classic Eye of the Tiger and were coached by Kendra Kozar. 'This duet earned a first place finish at the Crocus Challenge. Rising up to the challenge, these two talented young ladies showed us the thrill of competition and kept our spirits up with their antics on deck all year long,' said Colleen. 'Being two of our most experienced swimmers, this helped make it look easy as they twist, turn, sink, and bob in the water.
