The Denare Beach Winter Festival was once again a hit. Over the weekend of February 19, residents from Denare Beach, Creighton and Flin Flon took part in activities such as human foosball, a poker derby, a weiner roast and the Musher's Social. The following are results from the weekend's events: Coloring Contest Winners Kindergarten Ð Ariel Tanchak Grade 1 Ð Sophie Lengyel Grade 2 Ð Talia Slater Grade 3 Ð Taleigh Claveau Poster Contest Ð Ebony Blouin, Grade 8 Family Snow Sculpture Ð The Carter's, Ohoo Road Pie Baking Contest Ð Maureen McBratney Crib Tournament Singles Ð Tony Gardiner Doubles Ð Frank Wiegers & Tony Gardiner Darts Tournament First Ð Darrel Nash Second Ð Gary Lyons Turkey Shoot Winners: Eric Wallaker Anne Schiltroth Johnny Shendaruk Dave Negrych Zayden (Eileen Blake) Melody Lamont Leotta Belcourt Laurie Stomp Two tickets to Nickelback Ð Aleyna Loroff Family Boot Hockey 1st Place Ð Team Cassidy 2nd Place Ð Team McCullum/Clark Family Poker Derby First Ð Chris Lyons Second Ð Marcy Lyons Third Ð Laurel Madarash Human Foosball First Ð Team Donaghy Second Ð Team Cassidy 50/50 winner Ð Loreen Elliott, $300 The festival sold 499 buttons, which according to Denare Beach Recreation Director Jennifer Donaghy, is up almost a third from last year Nearly 200 people were out for the supper on the Friday night and just shy of 100 were in attendance for the Musher's Social Saturday night. Those at the social took in the music stylings of High Noon. Events such as the Poker Derby were well attended with 38 teams, while the Human Foosball Tournament only saw seven teams sign up Ð and two teams for the boot hockey tournament.
