The 10th Annual Inner Wheel Club Boot Sale is set to take place this weekend. With lots of room left for bookings, the club's Agnes Mills encourages everyone to rummage through their attics and basements for a few items. As a local group, the Inner Wheel Club helps a number of programs and services in the community Ð such as PARTY, the breakfast program at Ruth Betts School, Women's Resource Centre, the Lord's Bounty Food Bank, Operation Red Nose and the Flin Flon/Creighton Ski Club. Recently the club donated a set of dishes to the residents of Rotary Court. Mills says they aren't a big fundraising group, but the Boot Sale is one of their biggest contributions to the community. The Inner Wheel Club doesn't just support local initiatives. The group is a sponsor of Grandmothers to Grandmothers Ð a Steven Lewis project. "The Grandmother Project (GMP) is an international development organization working globally to improve the health and well being of women and children," read the project's website. Through the money raised from the Boot Sale, the group is able to continue to support these initiatives. Set Up Residents are able to bring trucks, cars, tables, trailers or anything they wish to sell from. The only stipulation, said Mills, is that the area must only be the size of a parking space. "They can work from there any (way) they wish," she said. Promoting it as a big community yard sale, Mills says it's "my trash, but maybe your treasures." On average, over the past 10 consecutive years, the sale has seen roughly 20-24 tables. This year, the numbers are down, but the club hopes to see more by Saturday. Mills said there is no time deadline to register Ð all are welcome. For more information, contact Agnes Mills at 687-8204 or Nora Fontaine at 687-6188.
