Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Amazing Race is making its comeback, this summer, as it will hit the Flin Flon Trout Festival for the second year. Last year, 20 teams took to the streets to complete the tasks. This year, Trout Festival president Tim Babcock says he hopes to see between 30 and 35 teams. The race will begin the morning of July 2. Not many details are being released about the challenges and events teams will have to compete in. Keeping the surprise element alive, Babcock does say that "the challenges aren't designed to embarrass you or to slow you down, physically." The president, who is on his second term with the Trout Festival, says one of the biggest challenges will be distance as teams will have to walk everywhere. Mother and daughter Looking back to last year, Babcock says it wasn't the team of gym teachers who won. It was a mother and daughter team. "They did everything right and maybe got lucky along the way," said the president. For this year's challenge, Babcock says competitors will need luck on their side. "Most challenges we have this year, so far, are more technically challenging than physically. But, you've got to be on the ball and be lucky," he said. Teams must be made up of two people, either male and female or same sex. However, all contestants must be 18 years of age or older. Last year, the youngest competitor came in at 18 while the oldest was into their 60s. Though locations aren't being given out for the event, Babcock says they can run anywhere from Phantom Lake, the ski chalet, Main Street and even the parks. Deadline to enter Flin Flon's Amazing Race is June 17. For complete rules of the event, visit www.flinflontroutfestival.com
