He was an enforcer for the Flin Flon Bombers from 1995 to '98 and now Graham Borne enforces and protects the streets of Regina as a constable. Borne loves his job and the people he works with. "It's a challenge day in and day out. It's something I enjoy," Borne said. The 6-5, 245 pounder enjoys dealing with people, even if it's the same ones. He also likes the danger that comes with it. "It's and up and down rush," he said. "It's kind of nice teetering on the dangerous side. To be on the edge of not knowing what you get. No day is the same." Borne agrees that what he learned from playing hockey does help him in his field. "I've always said cops and hockey players are similar," he said. "Both are team concepts. You look out for the guy next to you. They are different worlds, but similar." He feels that hockey does help him be a good police officer because it gave him a lot to apply to his life. The sport gave him a good foundation for life. "You want to work hard and it translates to the job," he added. "It was a big part of my life," said Borne. "I still play now." During his time in Flin Flon, he loved the people most. "Flin Flon is very dear and close to my heart," he said. He hopes to make a return visit with his wife, Joni, soon since he hasn't been in the area since 2002. The third line tough guy has been married for five years and is also a father of two boys aged 22-months and five-weeks-old. Borne, who grew up near Moose Jaw, attended the University of Regina once his Junior A playing days ended. He then continued his career playing Canadian Interuniversity Sport from 1999 to '03. During his five years, Borne played in 147 games and scored 21 goals, 36 assists and 57 points and 158 penalty minutes. The stats were gathered from www.hockeydb.com.6/26/2006
