Members of the "In Motion" committee are still scouring the streets for their next "victim." Committee members have been lurking the streets looking for residents out and about doing anything active. "A lot of the times we come across people walking or biking," says Fran Labarre, co-chair of the committee. "We've made a point of being out and about in the morning to catch people walking to work," she says. Last week alone the committee caught 21 people on their way to work, which Labarre says "is just great." She adds, "I hoped it would catch on, but I didn't think it would be going this fast." There are 10 members out taking names, and Labarre says even things like "flying a kite, or pushing the lawn mower are great activities." "In Motion" isn't just for adults, either, as Labarre says "if there are families out or a group of kids playing soccer or something, their names go in the draw." And just because you've got your name in the bucket once doesn't mean it can't be in there again. Labarre says she meets people sometimes more then once a day and their name goes in the draw. All names collected will be put into a draw for a Rocky Mountain Trail-Head bike. Labarre stresses that "there are only five weeks left in the contest, but that doesn't mean people should stop being active." The committee will also be out in the community looking for people being active in the evening as well. "We're starting to go after work, because there are more people who would rather walk after work than early in the morning," says Labarre. Because of the recent heat, Labarre says she's sure more people will get out once it cools down. "People will say it's just too hot to walk around right now." And she adds "instead they are taking their kids to the spray pools to cool down." Labarre is sure "once the heat calms down it's going to be full speed ahead again." And just remember "we'll be out there trying to catch you in motion,' says Labarre.
