The Midget AA Saskatoon Knights Tournament was held December 1 to 3. Game one of the tournament would see the Flin Flon AA Bombers up against the Estevan Bruins. The Bruins would score first at the 12:14 mark of the first. Brennan Beatty would tie the game at the 5:50 mark assisted by Landon Row and Warren Beatty. That would be as close as the Bombers would get, though, as Estevan would score four unanswered goals to win the game 5-1. Ryan Scott played net for the Bombers, who had trouble getting their feet moving after seven hours on a bus. Game two of the tournament would see the Bombers play the Regina Stars, as that first loss would drop them to the B side. Regina would start the scoring at the 7:45 mark, but Owen Woloshyn would tie the game quickly at the 6;53 mark assisted by Jason Fehr and Mike Phair 1-1 after one. Regina would take the lead in the second, but Flin Flon would come back with three straight starting with Warren Beatty, assisted by Nick Hamilton. The Bombers made it 3-2 with a goal from Nick Hamilton, assisted by Owen Woloshyn. Then Landon Row would make it 4-2 after two periods, assisted by Rudy Pegg. The third period would see the Bombers make it 5-2 with another goal from Owen Woloshyn, assisted by Brad Simon. Regina would get a late goal to make the final 5-3 Bombers. Theo Sewap played net for the Bombers. The third game of the tournament would see the Bombers play the Okotokes Oilers, a team from just outside Calgary. The Bombers would start the scoring in the game with Jason Fehr scoring a goal at 13:43 of the first assisted by Owen Woloshyn. The Bombers would make the score 2-0 with a goal from Nick Hamilton assisted by Derrick Beatty and Brad Simon. Two late goals from the Oilers would tie the game 2-2 after one. The Bombers were shorthanded for most of the second period, most of it five on three against. Okotokes would only get one goal though to lead the game 3-2 after two. The third period would see the Bombers tie the game 3-3 at the 11:23 mark with Owen Woloshyn scoring from Josh Beatty and Jason Fehr. Woloshyn would get his second of the period after the Oilers had made it 4-3 assisted by Landon Row. Woloshyn would complete his hat trick and get the game winner with 5:26 seconds left in the third, assisted by Landon Row and Nick Hamilton. Final 5-4 Bombers. Ryan Scott played net for the Bombers. This would put the Bombers in the B Final against the Saskatoon Bobcat Storm. The Bombers would come out flying and take a 3-0 lead after the first on goals by Jason Fehr with two and Owen Woloshyn his first with assists from Josh Beatty, Tom Barr and Owen Woloshyn. The Bobcats, however, would come out hard in the second and get two goals of their own to make it 3-2 after two. In the third the Bobcats would tie the game with 4:53 left in the third but Owen Woloshyn would put the Bombers up 4-3 with 3:33 left assisted by Jason Fehr and Josh Beatty. The Bombers could not hold the lead, though, as they would score with 36 seconds left to send the game to overtime. Sudden death overtime rules would see 3 on 3 hockey for ten minutes. Outstanding chances by both teams in the overtime would settle nothing, so the teams would go to the dreaded shootout. After five shooters each way could not score, Brennan Beatty would finally slip one by the Saskatoon goalie on a beautiful deke. Theo Sewap would stop the sixth shooter for Saskatoon, as he played an outstanding game to let the Bombers win in the shootout and win the B side 5-4. A touching tribute was made at centre ice after the game as the trophy was put on the No. 31 sweater and a stick salute was made to their friend, Shayne. The next tournament for the Bombers is in North Battleford January 19-21.
