There have been a wide variety of fundraisers for the upcoming Relay for Life this year. Teams have held road races, barbecues, garage sales, bake sale, cookbook sales, bracelet sales and 50/50 draws. Thompson's Tough Ones and the Flin Flon Fire Department joined forces as they are both raising money in memory of the late Dustin Thompson. This year, the teams held a 50/50 for the Sept. 7 Relay for Life and handed over more than $2,000 to winner Kim Bryson. The two teams sold tickets over the course of the summer and held the draw on Thompson's birthday, Aug. 23. Proceeds from the draw contribute to the teams' overall fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society. Thompson's brother, Aaron, is a proud member of the Flin Flon Fire Department _ as was Dustin. Dustin's wife Ashley leads Thompson's Tough Ones and is a major contributor to the Relay for Life this year. Teams will participate in the Relay for Life on Sept. 7 at the Creighton Ball Diamond.
