This past weekend was the 10th annual Masters Bonspiel featuring curlers over the age of 60 curling and, by all appearances having a great time. Three curlers came up from The Pas to participate: Norm Fox, Elmer Young and Bill Kaplanchuk. There were a total of 11 teams in the bonspiel. The teams were selected through a draw similar to the Seniors Bonspiel with the names put in a hat and drawn randomly. The first draw took place at the Uptown Curling rink on Saturday, February 14 at 10 a.m. with Chartrand defeating Fox, Jacobson over Musnon and Lavis over Vielgut. On the second draw at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, it was Graham over Scott, Young over McIntyre and Lavis defeated Sochan. The 3 p.m. draw saw Jacobson over Chartrand, Fox over Vielgut, Scott over McIntyre and Graham over Young. Then on Sunday at 10 a.m. Lavis defeated Jacobson, Fox won over Scott, Munson over Sochan and Vielgut over McIntyre. The finals were played at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday with Lyle Lavis defeating Scotty Graham in the Creighton Furniture Main Event. In the CIBC Second Event, Norm Fox (The Pas) defeated John Munson and in the Henry Budlong Memorial Third Event it was Al Chartrand defeating John Vielgut.
