Foran Mining Corp. said Wednesday that early exploration at its Bigstone property is showing promising results.
“In our first drill hole into the historic mineral resource at Bigstone, Foran intersected a broad zone of mineralization, which included a very high-grade zone of zinc mineralization,” said Patrick Soares, president and CEO of the junior miner.
Soares said the discovery, combined with other promising results from an area known as the Thunder Zone, demonstrate that exploration around the McIlvenna Bay deposit “continues to be successful, providing us the opportunity to add to our existing large resource base.”
Bigstone is 25 km southwest of McIlvenna Bay, which in turn is 65 km west of Flin Flon on the Saskatchewan side of the border.
Foran’s 2015 exploration program began in January. Five other holes drilled at Bigstone are being logged and sampled, with assay results to be released in the coming weeks.
