The CADAC Centre and Community Youth Resource Centre are looking for young role models. Nominations are being accepted for the Healthy Youth Role Model Award, which will go to an area student who abstains from drugs and alcohol while being involved with extracurricular activities. "There's a lot of temptation out there for youth and we want to recognize those who have the discipline and drive required to live a healthy lifestyle," said Tiffany Harker, an addiction counsellor with the CADAC Centre, based in Creighton. Nominees must be students aged 15-19 who live in Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach or Cranberry Portage. The winner will receive a $50 gift, a gift basket, a personalized plaque and his or her name on a special plaque that will hang in their school for one year. The recipient will be announced during National Addictions Awareness Week, November 14-20. The public has until Oct. 31 to nominate a student. Nomination forms are available at the CADAC Centre; Community Youth Resource Centre; Flin Flon Indian-Metis Friendship Centre; Flin Flon and Creighton RCMP detachments; Flin Flon-Creighton Public Library; KidsFirst North in Creighton; Denare Beach Drop-In Centre; and Hapnot Collegiate, Many Faces Education Centre and Creighton Community School. For more information, phone the CADAC Centre at 688-8291.
