Some talented local youth danced their way into the hearts of an appreciative crowd yesterday afternoon at the Creighton Community Hall. The Kelly Waterman School of Dance held its year end recital, with about 100 proud parents, grandparents, and siblings on hand. "There's a lot of potential," said instructor Kelly Waterman of her 40 students. Ranging in age from five to 17, the youth had the chance to demonstrate the dance moves and techniques they have learned over the past eight months. Performed to the backdrop of recorded music, their dancing covered four categories Ñ jazz, tap, musical theatre, and ballet. One routine that was particularly well received saw the children dance to the classic song Singin' in the Rain with umbrellas in hand. "I like using a lot of old time music," commented Waterman. The Kelly Waterman School of Dance, which is based in Thompson but holds weekly classes in Flin Flon, will resume classes at the end of August. In a related note, two of Waterman's local students, Aaron Stringer and Amanda Hill, received gold medals for their jazz exams this past February.
