Buying a backhoe instead of continually renting one is the latest suggestion for Flin Flon city council to save money. At last week's council meeting, taxpayer advocate Blair Sapergia suggested the move would increase efficiency. Mayor George Fontaine said the idea has been considered. The city relies on a rented backhoe for numerous projects, including the pipe replacement project on Green Street late last year and throughout the summer of this year. Sapergia also brought to council's attention numerous coyote sightings in Flin Flon. He was informed that this is a Manitoba Conservation issue, not a municipal one.
