If you don't know what a Boot Sale is, the Inner Wheel Club of Flin Flon hopes you'll find out. The service group invites the public to the Fourth Annual Inner Wheel Boot Sale on Saturday, June 12, in the Victoria Inn parking lot, which the hotel has donated. So what is a boot sale? Just call it a garage sale on wheels. It will consist of motorists popping open trunks filled with various second-hand items that, for the right price, can be yours. The term "Boot Sale" comes from England, a place where car trunks are referred to as "boots" and sales of this nature are common. The Inner Wheel, a club for spouses of Rotary Club members, got the idea to hold such a fundraiser from a member who went to England and learned how much success the sales had there. The Inner Wheel's boot sales have become increasingly popular over the years, and the members again hope for a large turnout. The vast majority of the money raised from the fundraiser will stay in the community and go toward local charitable efforts. Past initiatives supported by the Inner Wheel include: A new TV, VCR, and DVD player for the pediatric ward at the hospital. A new wheelchair for the Rotary Hub recreation room at Rotary Court. Powdered milk for the food bank. Toys for the children's Christmas gift program operated by Ida Kozar. Money for the Mitkas-Hunter Hope Foundation Inc., the goal of which is to open a special care facility in the local area for people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Inner Wheel members would like to hear from people interested in booking a spot as soon as possible. For more information, phone Agnes Mills at 687-8204 or Betty Smith at 687-3298.
