It's called the Biggest Garage Sale Under One Roof. And after a single glance at the hundreds upon hundreds of items crammed into the Elks Hall, it's hard to think of a more fitting name. The Flin Flon Elks Club's giant fundraising sale goes ahead this Saturday, with bargain hunters eager to cash in on the great deals. "We've got something for everyone," said Al Chartrand, exalted ruler of the Elks. And he isn't exaggerating. Among the many items available will be TVs, exercise equipment, baby clothes, microwaves, books, toys, golf clubs and interesting souvenirs. Each object has come courtesy of area residents eager to help out a good cause. Elk Ernie Poirier said he hopes a few more "big ticket" items, such as refrigerators, stoves and couches, will be donated. Donations may be dropped off at the Elks Hall. Since first being held in 1997, the Elks' annual August sale has become a popular tradition. The typical turnout? Six-hundred to 700 people. "Right off the bat, we're always full," said Chartrand. During the sale, which runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., raffle tickets will be sold for 10 collector plates. Proceeds from the sale will be split between the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children and the Elks Building Fund, used for repairs to the Green St. facility.
