Newspapers don't tell readers what they want to hear, they tell them the way things are. And the way things are right now, Flin Flon is losing to The Pas in a month-long reading challenge between the communities' libraries. As of yesterday morning, the local library had lent out 1,784 books, magazines, and videos during the month of May. At the same time, the library in The Pas has had 2,133 borrowed items, 349 higher than our library. A customer appreciation day will be held at the winning library on June 18, with staff from the losing library on hand to prepare and serve hot dogs, soda, and cake. The Flin Flon staff want to make sure they're not the ones donning the aprons, and encourage residents to stop by and find a good read. Since May is also ParticipACTION Month, they encourage people not only to exercise their minds by reading but also their bodies by walking, jogging or riding their bikes to the library.
