Darrell McPherson is keeping safe the very roads he grew up on. The RCMP constable recently accepted a transfer to Flin Flon, giving him the rare opportunity to police in his hometown. "It's been interesting," said Cst. McPherson, who was handed his badge in 1996. Previously posted in Selkirk, Gillam and Cranberry Portage, Cst. McPherson felt Flin Flon was the perfect place to raise his three children. "My wife and I really like the small-town atmosphere," he commented. The Hapnot Collegiate graduate knew from an early age that a career in law enforcement was in the cards. "It's different every day," he said. "It's challenging. It's not your regular 9-5 job." After working at HBMS for nearly five years after high school, McPherson left to obtain his criminal justice diploma from Lethbridge Community College in Lethbridge, Alta. In 1996, he graduated from the RCMP Academy in Regina.
